Wildlife Biologist

This is a full-time position with the typical work schedule of 40 hours per week with the day-to-day schedule (start and end time) 0730 – 1600, but may vary, as required, to support wildlife monitoring and natural resource management activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with implementation of wildlife management plans for game species including bobwhite quail, wild turkey, white‑tailed deer, waterfowl, and other wildlife.
- Assist with wildlife food plots; operate tractors and implements for habitat restoration and field maintenance.
- Assist with prescribed fire operations on large acreages to improve and maintain wildlife habitat.
- Conduct and assist with biological surveys, trapping, banding, and monitoring terrestrial and aquatic species, including small mammals, amphibians, birds, and fish.
- Support fish and aquatic resource management activities including trout stocking, tagging, and electrofishing of ponds and streams.
- Assist with invasive species and nuisance wildlife management, including feral hog surveys, damage assessments, bait stations, and trap deployment and removal.
- Monitor and maintain wood duck boxes and assist with migratory bird trapping and banding efforts.
- Support public hunting programs and special hunt events; use the iSportsman system and enter harvest data for annual reporting.
- Create maps using ArcGIS Pro and assist with data collection and reporting.
- Participate in public outreach and environmental education events.
- Follow all safety, cultural resources, and environmental compliance requirements, including chainsaw operations and cemetery site monitoring.
- Other tasks, as required, in support of the Fort Campbell Natural Resource Management program.
Qualifications (Education and Experience)
- Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, wildlife biology, general biology, or related discipline.
- Working knowledge of GIS and GPS data management.
- Experience with data collection and use of software such as Survey 123.
- Ability to endure long hours in harsh environmental conditions including extreme heat and exposure to insects. Must be willing to work non-standard hours.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Must be physically able to perform strenuous field tasks and operate heavy field equipment such as tractors and riding mowers.
- Ability to obtain state pesticide applicator license within one (1) year of hire.
- Must be able to obtain a Prescribed Burn Certification and successful completion of the NWCG wildland firefighter courses S-130 and S-190.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a U.S Citizen, have a current driver’s license, be able to pass a background security investigation, and have an original copy of birth certificate.
- Must be able to provide a favorable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) annully.
- Must have current Rabies Vaccine or be able to obtain a Rabies Vaccine immediately upon hire.
